Nordic Resources Expands Kopsa Gold-Copper Resource to 1.52 Million Ounces

Nordic Resources has increased the mineral resource estimate for its Kopsa gold-copper project in Finland by 86% to 1.52 million ounces of gold equivalent, expanding the deposit’s resource base ahead of further drilling and potential economic studies.

The updated JORC-compliant resource totals approximately 44 million tonnes grading 1.07 g/t gold equivalent. It contains about 1.18 million ounces of gold, 71,000 tonnes of copper and 3.5 million ounces of silver. Approximately 86% of the contained gold-equivalent ounces are classified as Measured and Indicated, providing a higher-confidence resource base for subsequent technical assessment and mine planning.

Drilling and Revised Assumptions Support Resource Growth

The updated estimate incorporates 9,631 metres of additional drilling and includes silver in the resource calculation for the first time. Revised metal-price assumptions and metallurgical recovery factors also contributed to the increase, meaning the new estimate cannot be compared directly with the previous resource solely on the basis of geological changes.

Approximately 97% of the modelled resource falls within an optimised open-pit shell, with an indicative stripping ratio of around 4:1. This configuration places most of the resource within a potential conventional open-pit mining layout. Nordic has begun a further 12,000-metre drilling programme targeting additional resource expansion and upgrading at Kopsa.

Finnish Resource Inventory and Next Estimate

Across its three Finnish deposits, Nordic Resources now has a combined resource inventory of approximately 1.93 million ounces of gold equivalent. The company expects to deliver the next Kopsa resource update in Q2 2027. The results could provide a basis for an initial scoping study assessing potential mining rates, processing alternatives, capital expenditure and project economics.

Processing and Economic Assessment Remain Key Development Requirements

Further development work will need to establish whether Kopsa can achieve metallurgical recoveries at commercial scale, determine processing and infrastructure requirements, and demonstrate the potential for attractive returns under realistic metal-price assumptions. The ongoing drilling programme could further expand the resource while maintaining a high proportion of Measured and Indicated material. The next stage of project assessment will depend on the resource results and the ability to establish the deposit’s economic and technical parameters for formal mine-development studies.
