Bezant Resources Secures €4.78 Million Loan as Namibia Copper Project Starts Production

Bezant Resources has secured a €4.78 million financing facility as its Hope and Gorob copper project in Namibia begins producing copper concentrate, with the first shipment targeted for November 2026.

The London-listed company arranged the facility with an investment vehicle managed by Yorkville. The binding agreement provides an unsecured, non-convertible loan carrying 5% annual interest, with repayment scheduled in 10 monthly instalments starting in January 2027. Bezant has indicated that the facility is being drawn, providing funding for commissioning, working capital and preparations for a second-stage expansion.

Loan supports commissioning and initial sales

The financing is intended to support the transition from mine development to regular concentrate production and commercial sales. Bezant plans to meet its repayment obligations largely through operating cash flow, making production ramp-up, shipment schedules and customer payments important to its near-term liquidity.

The facility is structured as short-term transition and working-capital funding rather than long-term project finance. Its repayment schedule will require the company to establish reliable production and sales ahead of the first instalment in January 2027.

The planned November shipment will be an important milestone in demonstrating that the operation can produce a saleable concentrate, deliver it to customers and generate cash to support ongoing operations.

Hope and Gorob expansion remains a longer-term target

Bezant’s longer-term ambition is to develop Hope and Gorob towards at least 25,000 tonnes of contained copper production annually. This remains a development target rather than current operating capacity or commissioned output.

The immediate priority is to establish consistent concentrate production and demonstrate that the operation can maintain reliable output, metallurgical performance and sufficient operating margins to cover costs and debt repayments.

Successful shipments and timely customer payments could help the company establish an operating record to support larger-scale financing for expansion. Delays in production, shipments or payments could increase pressure on liquidity under the loan’s short amortisation schedule.

New Namibian supply enters the international copper market

The project adds to potential African copper supply at a time when demand is supported by investment in electricity grids, renewable energy, data centres, electric vehicles and industrial electrification.

Europe remains heavily dependent on imported copper concentrate and refined metal. Bezant has not announced a dedicated European Union customer or a European smelter for Hope and Gorob output. Future production therefore remains available to the wider international market rather than being specifically allocated to European industry.

The start of concentrate production marks a transition in the project’s development, while the first shipment and subsequent cash receipts will be key indicators of its ability to establish sustained commercial operations.
