Bluelake Mineral is advancing the Joma–Stekenjokk–Levi project across Norway and Sweden, combining four deposits from established mining districts into a coordinated copper-zinc development. The project encompasses Joma and Gjersvik in Norway and Stekenjokk and Levi in Sweden. Following Norway’s approval of the Joma zoning plan in 2025, Bluelake has moved into a more intensive phase covering geological work, mine engineering, financing and permitting. The company plans to complete a pre-feasibility study in 2027, which is intended to provide the basis for environmental-permit applications in both countries.
Former Mining Areas Provide Project History
The deposits are located in areas with established mining histories rather than being undeveloped discoveries. At Joma, approximately 11.5 million tonnes of ore were historically processed between 1972 and 1998. The Stekenjokk-Levi area produced approximately 7 million tonnes between 1976 and 1988.
This previous mining activity provides geological information for the current development effort, although the project remains subject to modern environmental, permitting and financing requirements.
Two-Country Development Adds Regulatory Complexity
Developing the deposits as a single regional project requires coordination between Norway and Sweden, including regulatory procedures, infrastructure requirements and environmental approvals across two jurisdictions. The project is focused on copper and zinc, metals used across industrial and electrification supply chains. The Nordic region also provides existing mining infrastructure, technical expertise and established regulatory institutions.
Bluelake’s development strategy is based on evaluating the deposits as an integrated mining system rather than as separate assets.
2027 Study to Define Development Case
The planned 2027 pre-feasibility study will assess the economic basis of the combined Joma–Stekenjokk–Levi development and support subsequent environmental-permitting processes in Norway and Sweden. The project’s historical mining base, cross-border configuration and multiple deposits are being incorporated into the development work as Bluelake progresses toward the next stage of engineering, permitting and financing.
