EnergyX Signs 10-Year Trafigura Lithium Offtake for Chilean and US Projects

EnergyX has signed a binding 10-year lithium supply agreement with Trafigura covering 100,000 tonnes of battery-grade products, establishing a long-term sales arrangement for planned developments in Chile and the United States. The agreement covers expected production from EnergyX’s Black Giant project in Chile and Lonestar project in Texas. The company estimates the potential sales value at approximately €1.78 billion, based on an assumed lithium price of around €17,800 per tonne.

The estimated value does not represent committed financing or guaranteed revenue. Actual receipts will depend on production volumes, product qualification, contractual pricing formulas and market conditions.

Offtake covers planned production from both projects

EnergyX estimates that the Trafigura agreement could cover approximately 66% of planned first-phase output at Black Giant and around 30% at Lonestar. Commercial production is targeted for 2028 in Chile and 2029 in Texas. Neither project is currently producing lithium. Although the binding offtake agreement strengthens the commercial basis for development, construction financing and operational execution remain outstanding requirements.

Long-term sales contracts can support project bankability by providing greater visibility over future production sales. The agreement alone does not establish that either project has secured the capital required for construction.

US financing interest remains non-binding

EnergyX has previously received a non-binding letter of interest from the US Export-Import Bank equivalent to approximately €615 million. The expression of interest is not an approved or drawable loan and does not constitute committed project financing. The company must still secure definitive financing arrangements, make final construction decisions and execute the developments before the offtake contract can translate into physical lithium deliveries.

Trafigura agreement adds a non-Chinese supply route

The agreement connects EnergyX’s planned production with Trafigura, one of the world’s largest commodity trading groups with substantial European commercial operations. It strengthens another potential non-Chinese lithium supply route within international commodity markets.

The contract does not specifically allocate lithium to European Union battery manufacturers. Western institutional financing and sales through a European-linked trader do not automatically guarantee that material will enter the EU battery supply chain. EnergyX’s next development priority is to convert the long-term commercial agreement into bankable construction financing and operating production at Black Giant and Lonestar.

Europa MEuropa Metals has secured A$4 million (€2.47 million) through a share placement and commenced trading on the Australian Securities Exchange, providing funding for exploration across its Austrian antimony and gold portfolio. The capital is intended primarily for projects in the Carinthia region, where historical mining and documented mineral occurrences will be assessed using modern exploration techniques. The company issued 20 million shares at A$0.20 each ahead of its ASX admission. The start of trading marks a new stage in its efforts to evaluate mineral potential across several historically explored Austrian districts. Exploration Priorities in Carinthia Europa’s principal targets are Kreuzeck West, Kreuzeck East and Goldeck-Siflitz, which contain historical workings and mineral occurrences associated with potential antimony and gold mineralisation. The wider portfolio also includes Schellgaden, prospective for gold and tungsten, and Leogang, where historical base-metal mineralisation has been identified. Kreuzeck West covers approximately 21.1 square kilometres, with a mineralised trend extending for around 9 kilometres. Europa intends to integrate historical geological records with modern geophysical surveys, verification sampling and targeted drilling to assess the continuity and extent of mineralisation. Resource Definition and Technical Work The exploration programme will focus on verifying historical mineralisation, refining geological interpretations and selecting drill targets. The objective is to determine whether existing workings and mineral occurrences correspond to continuous mineralised systems that could support modern resource estimates. No JORC-compliant mineral resource or ore reserve has been established across the Austrian portfolio. The current funding is therefore intended for exploration rather than mine development. Licence renewals may also be required for parts of the portfolio as work advances. Antimony Supply and European Industrial Demand Antimony is used in flame retardants, specialised alloys, defence applications and advanced industrial products. European industry remains heavily dependent on imported supplies, increasing interest in potential domestic sources and historically mined districts that have not been fully evaluated using modern exploration methods. Austria’s established infrastructure and proximity to European industrial customers could support future project development if exploration establishes sufficient mineral grade, continuity and scale. The immediate technical milestones are the planned geophysical programmes, verification of historical mineralisation and selection of drilling locations. The results will determine whether the Austrian assets can advance towards compliant resource definition.etals Raises €2.47 Million for Austrian Antimony and Gold Exploration
