Strategic Minerals Expands Redmoor Drilling to 22,500 Metres in Cornwall

Strategic Minerals is undertaking a 22,500-metre diamond drilling programme at the Redmoor tungsten project in Cornwall, marking the company’s largest drilling campaign at the project to date.

The programme is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2027 and is designed to generate geological, metallurgical and geotechnical data for pre-feasibility studies. It will include at least 44 resource infill holes and nine metallurgical holes. Redmoor’s 2026 mineral resource estimate totals 17.4 million tonnes grading 0.65% tungsten-trioxide equivalent, covering tungsten, tin and copper mineralisation. The updated resource represented a 49% increase in tonnage from the previous estimate.

Drilling Targets Resource Definition

The expanded drilling campaign is intended to improve confidence in the Redmoor resource and provide information needed for future mine planning and financing.

The project remains at a stage where additional drilling is required to advance the resource from the inferred category toward the confidence levels needed for development decisions. Metallurgical drilling will form an important part of that work alongside resource infill drilling. The polymetallic nature of the deposit also makes processing performance a key development consideration. Redmoor contains tungsten, tin and copper, creating potential for by-product contributions, although commercial-scale recoveries and concentrate specifications will need to be established.

Tungsten’s Strategic Importance

Redmoor’s development is taking place as tungsten gains greater strategic importance in Western industrial and defence policy. The metal is used in cutting tools, industrial machinery, aerospace systems and defence equipment, particularly because of its properties in high-temperature, wear-resistant and high-density applications.

China dominates global tungsten production, increasing the strategic relevance of alternative resources such as Redmoor. The expanded programme is therefore intended to provide the technical information needed to determine whether the Cornwall deposit can support a credible pre-feasibility study and financeable processing route.

Cornwall Critical-Minerals Development

Redmoor forms part of a wider effort to develop a critical-minerals base in Cornwall, where projects involving tin, lithium and tungsten are contributing to the region’s emerging mineral-processing and mining pipeline. The 22,500-metre campaign will provide further geological, metallurgical and geotechnical data as Strategic Minerals works toward the next stage of Redmoor’s development.
