Sunrise Resources has entered a lease and purchase option covering the principal claim at the Lake copper-silver-gold project in Churchill County, Nevada, securing access to a historically drilled exploration target with limited initial financial commitments.
The company paid US$100 when the agreement was signed. Annual payments start at US$5,000 after the first year, increasing by US$2,500 each year to a maximum of US$20,000. These payments can be credited against future royalty obligations.
Lake project option provides up to 21 years of tenure
The initial lease-option period is seven years, with two extension opportunities that could provide Sunrise with up to 21 years of tenure. Sunrise can purchase the underlying claim at any point for US$150,000 or retain the lease and proceed to mining without exercising the purchase option.
The lessor will retain a 2% net-smelter-return royalty, which Sunrise can acquire for US$500,000. The agreement does not require a minimum exploration expenditure, and Sunrise can terminate the arrangement at any time. The company has also staked 10 adjacent claims. The project is located approximately 98 kilometres east-northeast of Reno, at the southwestern end of the Humboldt Range.
Historical drilling provides initial exploration target
Historical drilling by Utah International, then a subsidiary of BHP, included a surface intersection of 50 metres grading 0.73% copper, 31 grams per tonne silver and 0.2 grams per tonne gold. Sunrise’s due-diligence sampling returned silver grades of up to 198 grams per tonne, although the copper grade in the associated sample was only 0.13%.
The historical results do not constitute a mineral resource. The drilling was shallow and requires modern verification, while the project currently has no metallurgy, mine plan, capital expenditure estimate or economic study. Sunrise plans to conduct geophysical surveys and follow-up drilling as funding permits. The option structure limits initial financial exposure while allowing the company to assess whether the historical mineralisation can be confirmed and extended.
