Galileo Resources has advanced the geological model for its Ferber project in Nevada after specialist mineralogical studies identified features consistent with a potentially large copper porphyry system associated with skarn mineralisation. The project covers approximately 30 km² and already contains copper, gold, silver, lead and zinc indications from historical drilling and surface sampling.
Historical drilling includes an intersection of approximately 12.2 metres grading 0.83% copper. Galileo’s sampling of old workings and dumps has also produced individual results of up to 4.19% copper, 10.8 g/t gold, 674 g/t silver, 8.71% lead and 7.62% zinc. The individual surface results are selective samples and do not establish the average grade, continuity or scale of the mineralisation. The latest technical work instead provides a geological framework for determining whether the known mineralisation forms part of a substantially larger intrusive system.
Mineralogical Work Refines Exploration Model
Specialist analysis has identified alteration and mineral zonation consistent with a multistage porphyry system, together with associated skarn assemblages. The interpretation provides a possible geological explanation for the polymetallic mineralisation identified across the Ferber property. Porphyry systems can contain very large volumes of disseminated mineralisation, while skarn zones may occur around the margins of intrusive bodies. Galileo’s exploration model is therefore focused on determining whether the copper and other metals identified at surface and in historical drilling are related to a larger mineralised intrusive centre. The project remains at the exploration stage. No Mineral Resource has been defined and no economic study has been completed.
Drilling to Test Porphyry and Skarn Targets
Galileo plans to drill targets interpreted as prospective for both porphyry and skarn mineralisation. The drilling will test whether the geological model is supported at depth and whether copper mineralisation extends beyond the zones already identified through historical drilling and surface work.
The existing 12.2-metre intersection grading 0.83% copper provides evidence of copper mineralisation, while the surface samples demonstrate the presence of a broader polymetallic hydrothermal system. Neither set of results, however, establishes the existence of a large economic deposit. The upcoming drilling will therefore be used to investigate the location and extent of the interpreted intrusive body, copper grades and continuity, mineralisation depth and the overall scale of the system.
Nevada Project Covers Copper and Polymetallic Mineralisation
Ferber is located in Nevada, an established mining jurisdiction with infrastructure, experienced contractors and a long history of large-scale gold and base-metal operations. The project remains considerably earlier in the development cycle than an operating mine or defined resource. Galileo has yet to establish a Mineral Resource, complete an economic assessment or determine a development pathway.
The latest mineralogical interpretation nevertheless gives the company a defined exploration hypothesis centred on a porphyry-skarn system. Future drilling will determine whether the copper mineralisation identified in historical holes and at surface connects to a larger intrusive centre and whether the system has sufficient continuity and scale to support subsequent resource definition work.
