Evion Group has secured its first binding European offtake agreement for the Maniry graphite project in Madagascar, strengthening the project’s commercial position as it moves toward financing and final investment approval. The agreement covers approximately 10,000 tonnes of natural flake graphite concentrate per year for five years, or around 50,000 tonnes in total, with an established German graphite purchaser. Maniry is planned to produce approximately 39,000 tonnes per year during Stage 1, meaning the contract represents about 26% of expected output, while roughly 74% remains available for additional customers or potential downstream processing.
Offtake Supports Financing
Pricing will reference published graphite-market benchmarks for deliveries to major German ports. The agreement also includes a floor-price mechanism linked to Maniry’s production costs and debt-service requirements, providing additional protection against weaker graphite prices. The binding terms sheet is expected to be converted into a finance-approved long-form agreement within approximately six months. Supply remains conditional on project financing, final investment approval, construction and commercial production.
Permits and European Strategic Status
Maniry is designated an EU Strategic Project under the Critical Raw Materials Act, while Evion secured key mining permits across the project’s development areas in July 2026. The project is therefore advancing from permitting and strategic designation toward financing and construction. Evion is also evaluating a battery-anode-material processing facility in Germany. Such a development could potentially connect Madagascan graphite production with European downstream processing, reducing reliance on processing capacity concentrated in China.
Financing Becomes the Next Focus
The German agreement gives Evion an initial European customer while leaving most Stage 1 production available for further offtake contracts, strategic investment or potential German processing.
The company now needs to secure the broader financing package required to reach a final investment decision and begin construction.With EU Strategic Project status, mining permits and 50,000 tonnes of contracted supply, Maniry has advanced another step toward establishing a graphite supply chain linking Madagascar with German and wider European industry.
