Endomines Finland has moved Sofi Filtration’s Sofi Alchemist technology into full-scale production at the Pampalo gold mine in eastern Finland, targeting recovery of ultra-fine gold particles from processing streams that can be difficult to capture through conventional recovery systems.
The deployment follows a successful pilot programme completed in the previous year, during which the filtration technology achieved recovery rates of up to 99% for fine concentrate from process filtrate. The industrial installation at Pampalo represents an effort to increase gold recovery from existing processing operations by capturing valuable material from side streams within the mine’s water circulation system.
Pampalo deployment targets additional gold recovery from process streams
The Pampalo mine in Ilomantsi, eastern Finland, is the centre of Endomines’ Finnish gold production operations and forms part of the company’s broader activities along the Karelian Gold Line, where exploration continues.
The Sofi Alchemist system is designed to recover ultra-fine gold particles from mill water circulation streams, material that may otherwise pass through conventional recovery circuits and leave the processing system with process water. By improving capture of fine gold concentrate, the technology aims to reduce mineral losses while increasing recovered output without requiring a major expansion of existing processing infrastructure. The installation reflects a broader industry focus on improving recovery efficiency from operating mines, particularly as producers seek additional value from existing assets.
Water treatment technology supports mineral processing efficiency

For small and mid-sized mining operators, service-based arrangements can reduce financial exposure and transfer part of the technical responsibility to specialised technology providers.
The approach combines equipment, operational expertise and performance management while allowing mine operators to allocate capital toward activities such as exploration, mine development, safety improvements and core processing upgrades.
