A new initiative, the CBAM Knowledge Bridge, has been launched by wis.dom|bridge™ in collaboration with Clarion Owners Engineer to assist Serbian exporters in navigating the complexities of the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). This initiative is a significant move towards aligning Serbia’s industrial practices with the evolving EU carbon regulatory landscape.
As members of the International Association for CBAM (IACBAM), both organizations are committed to harmonizing industry standards with EU regulations and facilitating knowledge sharing across various markets. The CBAM Knowledge Bridge will serve as a structured platform that translates intricate EU regulatory requirements into actionable procedures for sectors impacted by CBAM, such as steel, cement, aluminum, fertilizers, and electricity.
With the EU advancing towards the full financial implementation of CBAM, Serbian exporters are under mounting pressure to provide verified emissions data and establish compliance-ready production processes. The initiative aims to combine regulatory interpretation with engineering-based solutions. Wis.dom|bridge™ will spearhead the development of frameworks for interpreting CBAM regulations, creating guidance protocols for exporters, and mapping compliance methodologies.
Clarion Owners Engineer will contribute technical expertise through emissions quantification and system structuring, ensuring that companies are prepared for third-party verification in accordance with EU monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) standards. This collaboration is designed not only to provide advisory support but also to facilitate practical execution.
Participants in the initiative will benefit from various resources, including structured CBAM reporting templates that meet both transitional and definitive phase requirements, engineering-based emissions calculation methodologies integrated into production processes, and protocols for verification readiness that align with EU auditor expectations. Additionally, compliance simulation exercises will help exporters understand real CBAM declaration scenarios and associated costs.
A key feature of this initiative is the establishment of a Serbia-based knowledge hub that will function as a permanent platform for training and ongoing technical support. This hub will offer workshops, technical bootcamps, and specialized sessions focused on industries most affected by CBAM obligations. The program is also designed to benefit local engineering firms entering the CBAM-related value chain and financial institutions evaluating CBAM exposure in their portfolios.
By fostering local technical expertise and compliance capabilities, the CBAM Knowledge Bridge aims to facilitate smoother access to verification and reporting resources for Serbian exporters. The first phase of this initiative is slated to begin in the latter half of 2026, starting with pilot participants from key industrial sectors before expanding across Serbia’s export-oriented economy and potentially throughout the Western Balkans.
