Bezant Resources expects to process its first run-of-mine ore from the Hope & Gorob copper-gold project in Namibia during September, marking the transition from construction into initial operating activity. Ore from the first two mine blasts has been stockpiled for processing at the refurbished Tsoaxaub Metals Processing Plant. Electrical drives and instrumentation at the plant are approximately 90% complete, while construction of the mine camp and surface infrastructure is around 75% complete. Commissioning work is continuing.
Plant Commissioning and Initial Production
The first concentrate will provide operating data on throughput, recovery and concentrate quality as Hope & Gorob moves towards production. Bezant is also evaluating a second-phase expansion and a higher mass-pull ore-sorting strategy designed to recover additional copper from lower-grade material before it enters the main processing circuit. The company believes the existing mineral inventory and plant configuration could potentially support a mine life of approximately 35 years, although this has not yet been supported by a revised economic study.
Ore Sorting and Processing Strategy
The use of a refurbished processing plant could reduce initial capital requirements compared with building a new facility, while commissioning will depend on mechanical availability and the circuit’s ability to achieve expected recoveries. Ore sorting could potentially improve project economics by rejecting waste while retaining copper-bearing material, increasing the volume of material that can be treated profitably. Its effectiveness will depend on sorting accuracy, recovery losses and additional material-handling costs.
Namibia Infrastructure and Development
Namibia hosts established uranium, copper, zinc and gold operations and has export infrastructure through Walvis Bay, reducing some logistical barriers for smaller mining developments. For Bezant, the immediate operating milestone is processing the stockpiled ore into saleable concentrate and demonstrating consistent plant performance. Initial production volumes, recoveries and concentrate grades will provide operating data as Hope & Gorob advances from development into mining operations.
