Arkadian Strategic Metals has completed a development-focused field programme at its Motzfeldt critical-metals project in southern Greenland, expanding work from geological exploration into mineral processing, infrastructure and environmental studies. The company collected four bulk samples weighing approximately 500–600 kg each from the Aries resource area. The material will be used for mineralogical and metallurgical studies supporting the development of a potential processing flowsheet. Arkadian holds a 51% interest in the Motzfeldt project.
Surveys Cover Mineralised Areas and Port Locations
The programme included hyperspectral and photogrammetry surveys across the Aries, Merino and Voskop areas. Arkadian also carried out environmental baseline work and bathymetric surveys at two potential port sites, expanding the project’s development studies beyond the mineralised areas. The bulk samples are intended to provide more representative material for testing mineralisation through potential processing stages, including crushing, grinding, concentration and possible downstream recovery. Processing studies will examine factors including recoveries, product quality, reagent requirements and flowsheet complexity.
Infrastructure and Environmental Studies
Infrastructure is a key component of development planning for the remote project. The port investigations will assess potential marine-access locations for the movement of concentrates, reagents, fuel and heavy equipment. The environmental baseline programme will provide data for future regulatory assessments and a potential exploitation-licence application.
The development work is also addressing infrastructure requirements that could extend beyond the mine itself, including roads, power systems, ports, accommodation and processing facilities. Greenland’s mineral potential and strategic location between North America and Europe have increased attention on its undeveloped mineral systems. The region’s remote operating environment can also increase the infrastructure and capital requirements associated with developing mining projects.
Motzfeldt Development Work
The latest programme places greater emphasis on determining how Motzfeldt’s mineralisation could be processed and how the project could be supported by infrastructure. The results from the bulk-sample programme will provide data for evaluating a potential processing route and the characteristics of products that could be generated from the mineralisation. The combination of metallurgical testing, infrastructure surveys and environmental baseline work is intended to provide additional information for future development and permitting activities at Motzfeldt.
