Military Metals Advances EU Antimony Supply with Maiden Resource at Slovakia’s Trojárová Project

Military Metals has made a notable advancement in the European critical raw materials sector by announcing an inferred resource estimate for its Trojárová antimony-gold project located in western Slovakia. This development is particularly significant as the project emerges as one of the largest undeveloped antimony resources within the European Union, coinciding with the region’s urgent need to diminish reliance on external supply chains for essential minerals.

The company has reported a total inferred resource of 6.5 million tonnes, with grades of 1.02% antimony and 1.06 g/t gold. This estimate equates to approximately 67,000 tonnes of contained antimony and 222,000 ounces of gold. Antimony is crucial for applications in defense, flame retardants, and advanced industrial systems, while gold adds economic value and potential diversification to revenue streams. The relevance of this resource is amplified within a European context characterized by limited domestic antimony production.

The resource estimation is backed by extensive drilling efforts, comprising 53 drill holes totaling 7,167 meters, along with historical underground sampling data. Although classified as inferred—indicating it is not yet fully bankable—the geological model provides a coherent framework for the project and demonstrates continuity of mineralization. This effort effectively transforms historical exploration data into a structured modern resource base.

As the European Union intensifies initiatives under its Critical Raw Materials Act to bolster domestic supply chains for vital minerals, the timing of this announcement is strategic. Antimony’s significance has escalated due to its critical role in defense manufacturing, heavy reliance on non-European sources, and limited recycling or substitution options. In this light, Trojárová is positioned as a key EU-based asset amidst a backdrop of scarce comparable deposits.

Military Metals has employed long-term indicative pricing assumptions of around $29,000 per tonne for antimony and approximately $3,000 per ounce for gold, with estimated metallurgical recoveries of approximately 85% for both metals. These preliminary figures suggest a dual-revenue structure that could mitigate the inherent price volatility associated with antimony, thereby enhancing overall project resilience.

The resource remains open along strike, particularly toward the northern extension of the deposit, indicating potential for further expansion through additional drilling. Future exploration could lead to an increase in total resource size, improved geological confidence, and support toward a preliminary economic assessment (PEA).

Beyond immediate production timelines, Trojárová holds strategic value as part of broader efforts to ensure industrial supply security for critical minerals in Europe. However, challenges persist including limited EU-based processing capacity for antimony, complex permitting and financing requirements, and the necessity for downstream integration into refining processes. Addressing these constraints will be essential to mitigate supply dependency and advance upstream resource development effectively.
