Diverging Investment Trends in Nickel Production
The landscape of capital expenditure in the nickel industry is increasingly polarized. Large-scale integrated projects, particularly in regions like Indonesia, necessitate substantial investments ranging from USD 2–4 billion per project, encompassing the entire spectrum from mining to processing and refining. In contrast, smaller producers focusing on laterite ore and sulphide extraction are limiting their capital expenditures to between USD 100–300 million.
