ElevenEs Subotica expansion to add 1 GWh battery capacity and train new workforce

Construction works and workforce training programs are under way at the ElevenEs facility in Subotica, Serbia. The company’s expansion is positioned within Europe’s push to expand domestic battery production and reduce reliance on imported battery technologies. The project is also linked to Serbia’s participation in the continent’s EV and battery manufacturing build-out.

ElevenEs and its focus on LFP cells

ElevenEs was founded as a spin-off of Al Pack Group. The company specializes in Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cells, a chemistry used by automakers and energy storage providers. Compared with other battery technologies, LFP is described as offering lower production costs, longer lifespan, improved safety, and reduced dependence on nickel and cobalt.

LFP batteries are characterized as part of the fastest-growing segments of the global battery market. ElevenEs’ product focus includes battery technologies described as cobalt-free and nickel-free. This positioning is presented as aligning with Europe’s efforts to limit exposure to volatile commodity markets and supply chain risks.

Industrial-scale LFP production in Subotica

In 2023, ElevenEs opened what it described as Europe’s first industrial-scale LFP battery cell manufacturing facility in Subotica. The plant manufactures advanced battery cells for electric passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, electric buses, and large-scale energy storage systems. 1 GWh megafactory plans and early job creation
