Cornish Metals has identified additional tin-bearing structures at its South Crofty tin project in Cornwall, United Kingdom, after reporting assay results from the first drillhole of its Roskear surface-drilling programme.
The company announced the results on 9 July, with drillhole SDD26_001A completed to a depth of 1,199.1 metres and returning multiple significant tin intersections.
Deep drilling confirms additional tin mineralisation
The first Roskear drillhole intersected several zones containing elevated tin grades. Reported assay intervals included 0.79 metres grading 4.18% tin, 0.30 metres grading 2.20% tin, and a wider 12.41-metre section grading 0.43% tin.
Cornish Metals said several mineralised structures identified during drilling are located outside the project’s existing mineral-resource envelopes. The findings support the potential for future resource expansion at South Crofty, although the results have not yet been incorporated into the project’s formal resource estimate.
Second drillhole targets western extension
A follow-up drillhole is being completed to investigate the same geological structures approximately 100 metres farther west. The drilling programme is focused on improving understanding of mineralised zones beyond the areas currently included in the project’s resource model.
The additional geological information could support future updates to the mineral inventory if sufficient continuity, scale and grade are confirmed through further drilling and evaluation.
Resource growth remains important for project development
The latest results do not currently alter South Crofty’s mine plan, financing requirements or official mineral-resource estimates. Potential resource growth could influence the project’s future economics by adding additional tonnes, extending the operating period and improving utilisation of planned processing infrastructure.
A longer mine life would allow fixed development costs, including mine rehabilitation and processing-plant investment, to be distributed across a larger production base.
Further technical work required before development decisions
Cornish Metals still requires substantial development funding to advance South Crofty toward construction. The drilling results alone do not provide project financing or release capital for mine development.
The next important technical milestone will be converting newly identified mineralised structures into classified mineral resources that can be incorporated into an updated mine schedule and lender technical assessments.
