Atalaya Mining Boosts Copper Production and Net Cash to €342 Million

Atalaya Mining increased copper production at its Spanish Riotinto operation to 13,967 tonnes, while its net cash position reached €342.1 million, strengthening its capacity to finance mine development and processing technology.

Quarterly copper output rose 15.2% year-on-year, supported by higher ore grades and improved metallurgical performance. Copper recovery increased to 84.25% from 74.45%, while ore mined reached approximately 4.2 million tonnes.

Atalaya held €354.1 million in cash and cash equivalents, compared with net cash of approximately €122 million at the end of 2025. The company maintained its full-year copper production guidance of 50,000–54,000 tonnes, although output is expected toward the lower end of the range.

Spanish Mine Development and Permitting

Atalaya is preparing to begin access-ramp development at Masa Valverde, a permitted Spanish project that could supply additional ore to existing processing infrastructure and extend the wider Riotinto production base.

The company is also advancing the Touro copper project in Galicia, where environmental permitting remains a key development milestone. Its strengthened cash position provides greater flexibility to finance these projects and continue exploration without relying heavily on additional debt or equity.

E-LIX Technology Targets Complex Concentrates

Atalaya is developing its E-LIX processing facility, which treats complex concentrates containing high zinc and lower copper levels. The technology is intended to recover value from materials that can be difficult or expensive to market through conventional smelting routes. The immediate priorities are achieving consistent operating performance and demonstrating break-even economics. If commercial viability is established, E-LIX could expand the range of complex copper and polymetallic concentrates that can be processed economically in Europe.

Atalaya’s next operational milestones include sustaining improved copper recoveries at Riotinto, advancing Masa Valverde development and demonstrating commercially sustainable performance at the E-LIX facility.
