Anglesey Mining has appointed William Sale Partnership to support planning and permitting for its wholly owned Parys Mountain polymetallic project in North Wales, establishing an estimated two-year pathway toward modern planning consent for potential underground mine development.
The deposit contains copper, zinc, lead, silver and gold mineralisation. The planned permitting programme includes environmental studies, stakeholder consultation and regulatory work, with the schedule dependent on approvals and project funding.
Technical Programme Targets Resource Expansion
Anglesey is preparing an approximately 18-month technical studies programme to refine the geological model and investigate opportunities to expand existing resources.
Priority targets include potential connections between the Engine and Deep Engine zones, the Northern Copper Zone and the Garth Daniel mineralised system. Historical drill core will be re-examined using portable X-ray fluorescence technology, alongside updated three-dimensional geological modelling.
The company is also evaluating whether early dewatering and controlled access to the historic Morris Shaft could improve understanding of underground conditions. This work could provide additional technical information while identifying rehabilitation and water-management costs that may not be fully reflected in current development assumptions.
Historical Tailings and Underground Assessment
Anglesey is investigating the potential recovery of residual copper from historical sulphide tailings. Successful recovery could offer an additional source of value or contribute to the project’s environmental rehabilitation case.
Parys Mountain remains at the pre-construction stage. No new drilling start date, construction decision or project-financing package has been announced, and the broader technical programme remains dependent on funding. The next development milestones include progress through the planning process, confirmation of the technical-study scope and securing funding for the work required to advance the project toward feasibility.
