Atalaya Mining increased copper production at its Riotinto operation in Spain by 15% year-on-year to 13,967 tonnes in the third quarter, while its cash position reached €354.1 million, strengthening its financial capacity to advance projects across Europe.
Higher copper grades and improved metallurgical performance supported production growth, with recovery increasing to 84.25% from 74.45% in the corresponding period a year earlier. The company reported €354.1 million in cash and cash equivalents and net cash of €342.1 million, compared with €122 million at the end of 2025. Annual copper production guidance remains at 50,000–54,000 tonnes, although output is expected near the lower end of the range.
Spanish Copper Projects Progress Through Development
Atalaya is advancing Masa Valverde in Spain, where construction of an access ramp is expected to begin shortly. The project has secured its principal environmental and exploitation permits. At Proyecto Touro in Galicia, environmental approval remains pending. The project has received EU Strategic Project designation, but this does not constitute construction authorisation or confirm financing.
Atalaya’s liquidity provides flexibility to fund development internally, although individual project budgets and final investment decisions remain separate requirements. The company has not announced new external financing.
Swedish Exploration Expands Sulphide Targets
Atalaya is increasing exploration in Sweden’s Skellefte district, where recent drilling has intersected additional massive sulphide mineralisation. Near-term development milestones include construction progress at Masa Valverde, environmental permitting at Proyecto Touro and continued exploration in Sweden.
