80 Mile Launches Greenland Nickel-Copper Drill Campaign at Disko-Nuussuaq

80 Mile’s Disko-Nuussuaq project in western Greenland is entering a key exploration phase as the company prepares a 2026 drilling programme targeting large-scale nickel-copper-cobalt-platinum group element (PGE) mineralization.

The project is focused on identifying magmatic sulphide systems, a geological setting associated with major nickel-copper deposits. While the exploration target presents significant potential, the outcome remains dependent on drilling results confirming mineralization, grade, continuity and scale.

Greenland Project Targets Polymetallic Sulphide Mineralization

The Disko-Nuussuaq project is an exploration-stage asset located in western Greenland and targets deposits containing nickel, copper, cobalt and PGEs. The geological concept is based on large-scale magmatic sulphide mineralization, a deposit style that can host significant concentrations of nickel and copper when favourable geological conditions are present.

80 Mile has received permits to commence drilling and has prepared an exploration campaign for the 2026 field season. The programme was initially planned at approximately 5,000 metres of drilling before being expanded to around 9,000 metres, increasing the ability to test priority exploration targets. The project is being advanced through a partnership structure under which USFM can earn a majority interest by committing significant exploration expenditure, while 80 Mile retains a carried interest in the project.

Partner Funding Reduces Exploration Funding Pressure

The partnership arrangement provides 80 Mile with exposure to exploration results while reducing the need for the company to fund the entire drilling programme independently. For junior exploration companies, repeated equity raises to finance drilling can create shareholder dilution. A partner-funded exploration programme allows the company to maintain participation in potential discoveries while limiting direct funding requirements.

The project’s commodity mix provides exposure to metals associated with electrification, battery manufacturing, stainless steel production, defence applications and industrial supply chains. The presence of platinum group elements adds additional exploration potential. Greenland’s location also contributes to the project’s relevance within discussions around securing alternative sources of strategic minerals.

Drilling Results Will Determine Project Direction

Despite its strategic commodity exposure, Disko-Nuussuaq remains an exploration target rather than a mine development project. The market focus will be on drill results and evidence that mineralization reaches meaningful thickness, grade and continuity. Important indicators will include massive or semi-massive sulphide intercepts, nickel and copper grades, sulphide characteristics, downhole geophysical results and indications that mineralization forms part of a larger mineralized system.

Geophysical anomalies and geological comparisons can support exploration programmes, but they do not confirm the presence of an economic deposit.

Arctic Conditions Shape Exploration Schedule

The Greenland operating environment creates additional challenges for exploration activity. Arctic field seasons are limited, logistics are complex and weather conditions can affect project timelines.

As a result, each drilling campaign represents an important stage in advancing exploration knowledge compared with jurisdictions where year-round field operations are possible. The 2026 Disko-Nuussuaq drill programme represents a high-impact exploration milestone for 80 Mile, with future project value dependent on whether drilling confirms a significant nickel-copper-cobalt-PGE discovery.
