Metals Australia kicks off exploration at Quebec’s Corvette river lithium-gold-copper-silver project

Metals Australia has initiated the first phase of its exploration program at the Corvette river lithium, gold, copper and silver project in Quebec, Canada. This phase aims to investigate and prioritize various zones across the extensive claim areas for further exploration and drilling.

The initial program involves detailed field mapping, extensive excavator trenching, and channel sampling to refine drilling targets for the next phase. The goal is to establish a prioritized list of drill targets based on the findings from these activities.

CEO Paul Ferguson emphasized that this exploration phase builds on previous work conducted by the company and contractor Magnor Exploration. “We have assembled a dedicated team of geologists and field staff, including excavators, to follow up on the targets, structures, and outcrops identified from earlier sampling,” Ferguson said.

The outcomes of this exploration will guide the second phase of the program, which will focus on highly promising lithium pegmatite targets, as well as high-grade gold and silver zones.

The Corvette River Project comprises several areas: the Felicie Project, East Eade, West Eade, and various lithium targets on the Guyer greenstone belt. Key highlights include:

  • Felicie project: Field mapping and trenching will explore structures and outcrops with previous rock chip samples showing grades up to 4.16 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 44.1 g/t silver, and 0.23% copper over a 180-meter strike length.
  • East eade: Investigations will focus on a 300-meter wide complex fold-closure with previous assays of up to 29.7 g/t gold.
  • West eade: Further exploration around historical sample sites has returned assays up to 11.45 g/t gold.
  • Lithium targets: Follow-up on lithium-bearing pegmatite targets includes CR1, mapped over 1.6 kilometers at Felicie, and CS1 at West Eade.

Ferguson noted that the company is progressing on multiple fronts, including advancing projects towards development. “Four of our projects are awaiting government approval for the next exploration phase, including Lac Carheil, which is also undergoing a prefeasibility study,” he added.

Metals Australia remains committed to advancing its critical minerals and metals projects in mining-friendly jurisdictions in Western Australia and Quebec.
