Tungsten Mining Attracts Indicative €123 Million Debt Interest for Watershed Project

Tungsten Mining has received non-binding debt proposals of up to €123 million for its Watershed tungsten project in Queensland, Australia, as the company advances site works and negotiations with strategic investors and potential offtake partners.

Several financiers have submitted indicative terms, with most proposals supporting gearing of up to 70%. This could provide approximately A$200 million (€123 million) against estimated pre-production capital expenditure of A$274 million (€168 million). The proposals represent potential financing options rather than committed debt. Any facility remains subject to due diligence, credit approval, documentation and final lender decisions.

Financing and Development Requirements

Tungsten Mining is continuing discussions with strategic investors and prospective offtake partners while early site works commence at Watershed. The company has not disclosed a binding offtake agreement or identified a European buyer in its latest update.

The proposed debt would cover a substantial portion of estimated pre-production expenditure, but the financing package remains incomplete. The company must convert indicative proposals into binding commitments and secure the remaining equity or strategic investment required to meet project costs.

No financing from the European Union, European Investment Bank or European governments has been announced, and no existing contract specifically directs Watershed’s tungsten to European consumers.

Tungsten Supply and Strategic Demand

Watershed has potential relevance to efforts to diversify Western tungsten supply. The metal is used in hard metals, cutting tools, defence systems, aerospace components and advanced manufacturing, while global mining and processing remain heavily concentrated in China.

Projects in Australia, Europe and North America are attracting strategic interest as governments and industrial consumers seek alternative sources of the critical mineral. Watershed could contribute to Western production if development financing is secured and the project advances. The next milestones include securing binding debt commitments, concluding negotiations with strategic investors and establishing whether offtake discussions can provide a viable route to market. Financial close remains necessary before the project can move towards a fully funded mine.
