Nordic Resources has reported gold recoveries of up to 90% and copper recoveries of up to 91% from initial metallurgical testing at its Kopsa gold-copper project in Finland, ahead of an updated mineral-resource estimate.
The programme tested both main mineralisation styles using a conventional grinding, flotation and leaching flowsheet. Variability tests on Tonalite material averaged approximately 88% gold recovery, with head grades ranging from 0.46 to 0.99 g/t.
Locked-cycle testing produced copper concentrates grading 24% to 25% copper. Stockwork material also returned concentrates containing up to 115 g/t gold and 301 g/t silver.
Resource Update and Further Drilling
Kopsa’s existing resource contains approximately 815,000 ounces of gold equivalent. The updated estimate will incorporate around 9,631 metres of recent drilling, while a further 12,000-metre drilling programme is under way. Nordic Resources plans additional metallurgical work to develop prefeasibility-level geometallurgical modelling, linking ore types and recovery rates with mine planning.
The initial results provide a modern metallurgical basis for evaluating the deposit, although they do not establish project economics. Further drilling and recovery data will support the assessment of Kopsa’s potential progression towards formal prefeasibility studies.
